History and Ownership
GAB Robins UK is a business that since April 2009 has been majority owned and controlled by its senior management team. Free from control by external investor shareholders the company is unique amongst its peer group in its ability to concentrate upon the development of long term strategies to meet the current and emerging needs of its clients and their customers.
The business has its origins in the late nineteenth century and throughout the first half of the twentieth century Robins Davies and Little, as it was known, developed a global reputation for the handling of losses arising from natural catastrophes, such as the San Francisco earthquake as well as man made disasters closer to home - principally involving Commercial fire loss adjusting. During the 1970's and 80's the company grew dramatically in the UK and overseas, both by acquisition as well as organically. In 1987 Robins Davies and Little was acquired by SGS of Switzerland, who also owned GAB of North America - one of the largest adjusting companies in the USA. The creation of GAB Robins followed the merger of the two business, with the International reach of the Robins Group of Companies combining with one of the largest USA firms to create a dominant global player.
Today, employing more than 550 staff in the UK and overseas, working alongside a network of international agents, the group delivers loss adjusting and claims management services to the Property, Casualty, Construction, Marine, Aviation and Motor insurance markets. The company counts all of the major UK composite insurers amongst it's clients, as well as Lloyds Underwriters, niche UK underwriters, overseas insurers operating out of London and international corporations such as McDonalds, Vodafone and UTC.
Represented in all the major UK commercial centres, we provide nationwide coverage, including Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands. Overseas, GAB Robins Aviation Ltd owns and operates offices in Scandinavia, Germany, Singapore, USA and Mexico.
