GAB Robins responds to massive mains pipe burst in Streetly, Sutton Coldfield, which occurred during the early hours of Saturday morning.

Hundreds of residents fled their homes after a burst pipe sent 2 million litres of water flooding into their properties. A split water main close to the Barr Beacon Reservoir caused the flooding. The powerful torrent brought down walls, left gardens and driveways submerged and a number of homes were flooded by up to 1.5m of water at around 5.15am on Saturday, 12 November. Fire crews worked until 8am pumping away the water before the levels subsided.

Around 150 houses were flooded.  GAB Robins immediately mobilised our emergency response team of  6 adjusters to attend the scene of the flooding on Saturday morning as the first of the urgent claims were received via our out of hours Helpline.

Claims were received at our Service Centres in Manchester and Brighton. Staff there immediately made calls to all policyholders to arrange appointments the same day and to arrange for emergency restoration suppliers to attend to begin the clean up operation. All of the claims received were visited over the weekend and a continued presence will be available to attend further claims received throughout the week.
